The majority of our hotels operate on a modest scale and cannot afford individual representation and marketing services worldwide. "Hôtels de Charme et de Caractère" comply with principles of fair trade and collaborative economy wherein hoteliers do not pay any commission on reservations. Also, the membership costs are as low as possible. We are not looking to make a profit and 80% of the money collected from hoteliers goes back to them in the form of marketing & representation. As a good N.G.O. we limit our operating costs to 20% of our revenues. We rely on establishing direct social links between hoteliers and travelers and local populations through strong local integration. We support and encourage our members to implement ecological and environmental policies. We encourage our members to forge links with like-minded organizations, associations and movements.
