Located right in the heart of unspoilt Borrowdale, Leathes Head Hotel is a lovely eleven bedroomed Edwardian country house. The hotel is set in three acres of private gardens and all around you is a stunning panorama of some of North West England’s most spectacular fells. The luxurious individually designed bedrooms are wonderfully comfortable and provide entrancing views of the surrounding landscape and gardens. The experience of eating in the 2 AA Rosette-winning restaurant is not to be missed. Head Chef Noel Breaks uses locally sourced and foraged ingredients to create scrumptious dishes. Local suppliers include Herdwick lamb from Yew Tree Farm, milk and free range eggs from Scales Farm, fresh meat from Lakeland Supplies in Kendal and cheese from The Kendal Cheese Company. Leathes Head’s location makes it ideal for walkers and a great number of walk start from the hotel’s front door, some going uphill to such local fells as Catbells, Dale Head and Scafell, others gently leading along the valley to Grange Village and Derwentwater. Lake cruises, water sports, mountain biking trails and plenty of other Lake District activities are also all within easy reach of the hotel. After a long day’s outdoor enjoyment, there’s nothing better than returning to newly refurbished Graphite Bar, a fantastic place to enjoy a drink or watch the local wildlife through the conservatory window.
